We are all of us in the gutter, some of us have an ear to the ground.

Stunned into a deep depression by a show that I hated and no one else seemed to mind in the least, I was tempted to wallow for years! But the theatre calls. Or at least Nazis in musical theatre call.

59 E. 59 brings back more Irish Theatre with Improbable Frequency, winner of 3 Irish Times awards, for a stint from now through Christmas. The plot revolves around 1941 Dublin struggling to stay neutral with a population of Irish patriots, English spies and Nazi sympathizers. See, I wasn't exaggerating about the Nazi part. You thought I was referring to The Producers, didn't you.

Also on December's calendar is the Atlantic Theatre's Cripple of Inishmaan, ten years after the original production of Martin McDonagh's successful play.  The Atheist still runs amok at the Barrow Theatre.  And the Irish Rep. Theatre is offering its annual A Child's Christmas in Wales.  Wales, Ireland, Scotland (St. Anne's Black Watch), it's all a holiday gift.

I leave you with a trailer about Nazis in Dublin.
